Welcome to Root to Bloom Counseling!

For over a decade, I have worked in a social services capacity within the community. My passion for this led me to become a Social Worker and then a Psychotherapist. I am so proud of this work and continue to be passionate about it. Starting my own practice was exciting and a little terrifying. I spend my days helping people take the next step, and this was mine to take. In honor of my late parents, who both left this world too early, I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own practice. I wanted to build a place where people feel seen without being rushed, where nothing is too small or too messy to bring in, and where therapy feels like a conversation with a real person, and not a blank slate.

Why Root to Bloom Counseling? In all honesty, the reason is more basic than anything else. I love flowers and plants. I loved planting my vegetable garden this past summer, taking care of it, and watching it grow. Flowers and plants have mechanisms to care for themselves, but they do need support. Much like we do at different points in our lives. Myself included. The practice name came from this thought of caring for ourselves, sometimes needing a little support, so we can bloom to be our best selves.

I am excited to start this new journey and look forward to everyone I get to meet, speak to, and support. I plan to use this blog as a way to discuss mental health in a positive, informative way, and to normalize these discussions. Even if a person decides not to schedule an initial appointment, I want this to be a place where someone can gain some information, and I can only hope it will help them.
